Rep. Waxman Commends President Obama’s Climate Action Plan
WASHINGTON, DC— Rep. Henry A. Waxman of California’s Thirty-Third District, the chair of the Safe Climate Caucus, spoke on the House floor yesterday to commend President Obama’s plan for action on climate change. Rep. Waxman pointed to the successful implementation of the Clean Air Act as evidence that the country can have both a clean environment and a strong economy. The Safe Climate Caucus is a group of Democratic members who are highlighting the need for action on climate change through daily floor speeches and other activities.
In addition, today Rep. Waxman released a report detailing the “climate disconnect” amongst Republican members of Congress. The report finds that those members representing congressional districts with the highest record temperatures in 2012 consistently voted against climate change measures in the 112th Congress. The report and a detailed map providing temperature and voting information for each district are available online here.
